THIERRY TOMETY

B. 1993 in Togo, Thierry Tomety began his career as a computer scientist. In his free time, he tried out computer graphics and quickly discovered an attachment for colors.

Following a series of twists and turns that have deeply shaken his vision of life, he decided to surprise his destiny by finally putting his professional training in the background to devote himself entirely to his art.

His work deals with the process of creation as well as human emotions; but also the questioning of the meaning of life.

His pictorial works are centered on the idea of perpetual restarting through the destruction and reconstruction of the matter.

We can say that Thierry Tomety is a sculptor because his mind materializes conceptual works that encourage reflection.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“My work is quite reflective. I understood quite early in practicing painting that my artworks were influenced by my subconscious.

My art therefore appeared to me as a medium that will allow me to converse with myself. Now, I "materialize" without overthinking, using sand, cardboard, paint and whatever comes into my hands.

After this interior visit, I take the time to see what my subconscious would like to convey as a message through the work that I have produced.”
