UGBO IKECHUKWU ANTHONY

Ugbo Ikechukwu Anthony (b. 1992) is a native of Ebonyi state in Nigeria. He holds a degree in Information Management Technology. Anthony lives in Lagos with his parents and four siblings. Anthony’s relationship with drawing began due to his curious nature watching his friends draw and shade, which led to him trying his hands at this art form, and he was happily surprised at his success and skills. Since then, with each pencil stroke and smudged line, he has continued to evolve and improve his skills and has fallen even more in love with this calling.

Drawing for Anthony is an avenue for expression and inspiration for himself and those around him. Anthony believes that his art form engenders wonder and dreams and allows him to create and recreate his world as he sees fit to stir up difficult conversations to heal the world and ignite positive change for all of humanity. Art for Anthony has brought him solace and stability and peace in a part of the world that is quite chaotic. Anthony’s affair with his art form can only grow and be a catalyst for positive change for those around him, his collectors, the community, and the world at large.

To date, Anthony has specialized in the use of Charcoal and Graphite and intends to grow his skills in the realm of painting in the near future. Since 2017, Anthony Ugbo has completed over three dozen drawings in the private collection of people spanning the globe. Anthony was signed to Lisa Cook Fine Art Gallery in Leesville, South Carolina. Anthony has been awarded the first prize in the Human Realism category at the American Art Award in 2019.
