ART DESCRIPTION

In this mixed media piece, Tembo shows how pregnancy is used to validate a successful marriage and how this pressure on most women in Africa as led to a lack of family planning and absentee fathers(represented by the man kissing the forehead of the pregnant woman). She emphasized further by saying if we got into the culture of making consensual decisions to have children, these types of cases would be reduced. The flower made from upcycled clothes signifies femininity, and the root represents the genesis of this ideology.
